Today a wonderful diversity of nationalities, ages and personalities make up our church community. We come from all walks of life! The photo below shows one of our recent church lunches that we hold intermittently.

About us
Welcome to our website! We are an active, people-oriented, Bible-centered church seeking to love God and our community. Our church is a member of the Association of Baptist Churches in Ireland (ABCI)

Our goal as a church is to:

  • To teach God's Word - the Holy Bible.
  • To encourage, disciple and care for one another, growing in fellowship, service and growth.
  • To enjoy and share the life and love of Jesus Christ with the wider community,

Cork Baptist Church has a rich history. Our church was established in 1640. Over the course of its history, the church met in a number of different locations throughout Cork city. In 1892, the church moved to King Street (now known as McCurtain Street) the photo below is a snapshot of the congregation during this time. The church continues to meet in the same building in McCurtain street to this day. This is the Victorian Quarter of Cork City. An upper floor was installed in the building in 1979 to cater for the growing ministry needs of the church.

Whether you live in Cork or are just passing though, and whether you are a committed Christian or just curious and have questions, you are always warmly welcome to come any time. The video below gives you an idea of what to expect, so please stop by and say hello in person!

We love to study the Bible together, and come to a deeper understanding and love of God. During the service Peter our pastor gives a talk (sermon) from a specific passage of the Bible, and week by week we eventually work though a whole book of the Bible. At the moment Peter is teaching though the Gospel of Mark in the New Testament on a Sunday morning. Everyone is welcome. You don't have to have any familiarity with the Bible or to have ever been to a church before to visit, observe or join in.

We also really value teaching the Bible to children. During the service we have a "Sunday Club" for children, where children can learn about God in a fun, creative, and interactive way, with plenty of games, laughter and great teaching of the Bible.

The photo below shows a recent "Sunday Club" where the children learned about Jesus calling two fishermen called Simon and Andrew to be his disciples (Mark 1). We did a game of fishing as we learned the key message of the text!

We also run events, groups, and courses throughout the year. We run a "Christianity Explored" Course that runs intermittently for people exploring the Christian Faith and asking questions about who Jesus is. We run a number of "Home Groups" bi-weekly for anyone wishing to study the Bible with a small group of people in the relaxed, friendly home environment over a cup of coffee. We hold a monthly prayer meeting the first Wednesday of each month.  We hold annual events like Carol Services at Christmas time - see photos below and check out our events page for specifics!
